About GoodToSwim

GoodToSwim.com answers practical questions about home swimming pools: how many gallons is my pool, and how much chlorine do I add? Each calculator shows every step of the math and the primary source behind each number, so you can check it yourself.

What we cover

Home (residential) pools that use chlorine. We do not cover spas, hot tubs or bromine, and we do not report water quality at beaches, lakes, rivers or other open water. Our calculators never tell you that your water is safe to swim in: your product label and your own test kit decide that.

Why trust the numbers?

Because we publish our tests. Every calculator is checked against published worked examples and our own control cases, and the full list, including the cases where sources disagree with each other, is on the methodology page.

Independence and funding

GoodToSwim.com is an independent website operated from Sweden. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any manufacturer or retailer of pool chemicals or equipment. Product and brand names are used only to identify the sources we cite.

The site is free to use. We plan to fund it with display advertising from Google AdSense; no ads are shown yet. Advertising will never influence our numbers: we do not use affiliate links and we do not sell products. See our privacy policy and cookie policy for how ads and consent work.
